About Wherezat
Wherezat is a geography game built around real photos. Each puzzle is a single place somewhere in the world, shown through five photos that start vague and get more specific.
How to play
- Look at the first photo. Check the landscape, the buildings, the signs, the light.
- If you think you know where it is, drop a pin on the map and lock it in. A first-photo guess can earn up to 1,000 points.
- Not sure? Reveal the next photo. Each extra photo lowers the most you can score: 1,000, then 800, 650, 500 and 350.
- You get one pin. The closer it lands to the real spot, the more of those points you keep.
Tips
- Language on signs narrows things down fast, even when you can't read it.
- Building materials and roof styles say a lot about climate.
- Which side of the road cars drive on rules out large parts of the world.
Where the photos come from
Every photo comes from Wikimedia Commons, a library of freely licensed images. Each photo links to its source page, which lists the photographer and license.
